If solar export is constrained, why does that mean battery storage could work?

Because a battery that only reduces what a site imports — rather than exporting power to the grid — isn't limited by the same generation headroom that blocks new solar export. It's a different question for the network, and often an easier one.

Doesn't battery storage need the same grid connection as solar?

Not necessarily. Export capacity and import capacity are separate things. A constrained substation tells us export is difficult — it doesn't tell us anything about your site's ability to import, which is what a standalone battery actually relies on.

So is this confirmed to work at my site?

No — and we wouldn't want to overstate it. What we've identified is that your local grid position fits the pattern where battery storage is often worth exploring. Confirming it properly needs real data about your site's own demand, which is exactly what an initial conversation is for.

Are you trying to sell me a battery system?

No. CSIA doesn't sell, design or install battery storage systems. We identify potential and start a conversation — that's what we do.

What's the difference between this and your solar potential page?

Our main screening looks for buildings where solar export looks strong. This page covers the opposite case — buildings where export is constrained, but that constraint itself points toward a different opportunity: battery storage focused on your own site's usage rather than the grid.

Is there any cost or obligation?
